![]() Click to Expand/Collapse entire entry Went snowboarding at Falls Creek last weekend wif Tracy n Peilin n her Monash cronies. Swell swell trip that was. Didnt start off too well tho, mainly because Tracy was organizing this event at a club called Velour that very night the entourage bus was leaving Clayton for the mountains. Being a friend, i decided to attend the event to accompany her in the club as well as her last miniute trip to Clayton. I also elected to help her get a few people into the club. Ended up paying a hefty 70dollar taxi ride to Clayton from the club itself with alchohol in our systems at 2:30am to catch the bus with the rest of the Falls Creek entourage. The bus ride sucked somehow, my head was throbbing and i couldnt sleep. Reached the mountains at around 9am with little or no sleep at all. Best thing is, its not fucking easy to walk around without proper snowshoes, omg!! The worst thing that can happen to a guy, groggy from the lack of sleep and too much alchohol, is the fact that he needs to mind his steps coz its fucking hard 2 get a balance! ![]() Snow: First Contact (dont mind the terrible facial expression, too stoned from the night before, didnt sleep and i travelled on the bus without a change of clothes from clubbing) ![]() Man, when i first arrived, my hairstyling wax froze over Day 1 (Grey Beanie) ![]() Gearing up for our first round! Immediately, without rest, we lugged our bags into the room, got changed and headed out to the snow for lessons. Pei Lin, Me and Tracy elected to snowboard instead of skiing. Snowboarding looks more cool we say. Lessons were a bore!! Jeremy, our instructor made everything look soo easy! 'just look over your shoulder and you're board will turn that direction'. Bullcrap! i turned my head soo much the little 10year old kids skiiing around woulda mistaken me for an OWL! and no.. i went straight till i crashed into something or just fell down. And the girls were oogling over Jeremy, who looks elusive with bigass ski goggles and a scarf around his mouth leaving only a teasing bit of face to look at. Quoting Tracy 'Jeremy is kinda like Kakashi from Naruto!! he's soo cool and somehow we all know he's cute behind that mask and we're like his students'. -________- Well.. anywayz, we spent the entire afternoon practicing different methods of controlling the snowboard. I found myself particularly good at doing the spiderman (Or as Yuhan, my housemate would call it, the 'Falling Leaf' technique, sounds more Ninja). Tracy seemed to do the slower body turns that JEremy was preaching about well. Pei Lin randomly did the Spiderman and the Turns. Body was tired from dragging the bulky snowboard up the practice slopes. Still kinda estatic about snowboarding, but somehow its boring me out so after dinner i suggested that the next day, we either explore the many slopes and trails on our own for more fun, or take up skiing instead, which should be much easier to control. Dinner provided by the lodge was great albeit small-ish on the portions. Alchohol, fun and games were played after dinner, but unfortunately, rules were.. no PICTURES allowed!! whatever happens in the room, stays in the room :P Lotsa rolling around, wet willies, 69, kissing n all :S Sleeping was instantaneous. Rather tired. ![]() On the Chair/Skylift ![]() View from the lift ![]() Me, Tracy, Peilin and Han Day 2 (Red Beanie) Took a great deal of strength and willpower to drag myself out of the warm quilts to the showers and then breakfast at 7:30am. Had a bucket load of food for breakfast! 3 bowls of cereals, 5 slices of bread, bacon and eggs. After breakfast? geared up and headed out! The fresh morning snow was.. well.. just amazing really. Its.. well i cant find words to describe the snow. Fluffy, soft, comfy and just wonderful! I almost cant be fucked with the lessons and just wanted to lie down on the snow gazing at the heavens. The lessons were mundane.. very... After a few more rounds practicing, we gave up! headed to the Cloud Nine cafe for light lunch while contemplating on switching to Skiing. We then decided to give the intermediate slopes and trails a chance first, so we went down a slope to see what snowboarding is all about (trust me, the lessons, though some of the basics are important, FUN was nowhere to be found) The FUN however, we found on the slopes as we fell, pulled ourselves up only to fall again.. and again and again!!! V(^_^)V . The adrenalin of going down a slope sliding on smooth ice while trying to keep balance for at least over 15 seconds is priceless. Also bumped into Eunice, a friend from RMIT there as well, she was with her Singapore Society cronies, looking good on her set of skis. Tried to tail her team but as i fell, she sped downwards and away though i did finally sorta caught up with her at the end of the slope with some insane balance and speeds on my snowboard (that came to a crashing end because i really dont know how to stop under such momentum). T'was fun that slope experience, so we took the lift up the slope to go down again! After the slope, we then met up with more friends who took us to the Wombat Trail, which is like a cliffside/mountainside course with wooden barriers that should help 'prevent' us from falling down the cliffside into an oblivion of snow, ice and pain. This isnt a slope, its less steep with far more turns, bends and corners. And yeah, the wooden barriers? nar they dont cover the entire cliff so there are GAPS in which u CAN fall into the snowy oblivion. Kinda scary, plus, most of us cant really make a turn at will, so its do or die up there. And this my friends, is where the fun and learning really.. begins... And somehow, im not sure how, im suddenly able to navigate the turns, and bends almost at will, and saving myself from near falls and crashes and even avoid other skiers and snowboarders, zipping in, out and between them. Falling is, however, still inevitable but it is a part of the fun!! So the entire afternoon and evening was spent on the Wombat Trail which was great great fun. Completing the trail, and going back up the skylifts to start it again, and again and again, till my legs were trembling from the lack of endurance. I did do some pre-snowboarding fitness training but evidently it wasnt enough as my legs tire off from the grinding and turning and the change of direction (all of which require thighs and leg control). Sadly, i snowboarded alone and missed out much of the group fun with Pei Lin, Tracy n co. They just couldnt keep up! hahhaha :P Tracy and Peilin both ended up with bruised bums from falling too hard or too much. I had sore arms for some reason, but thats all!! teeheee :D . Thighs we're doing fine at the end of the day. The night was spent drinking after dinner. Power supply was erratic as we had blackouts every 5 minutes. I had to take a dump in the pitch black toilet. We ended up sharing 'ghosts' stories n all before falling asleep. Tracy's bum (actually her entire body) was aching and require some massage and so i tended to her needs till i fell asleep. ![]() My mini snowman!! :D undecorated tho :( ![]() Me n My Darlin Cousin ![]() White as Snowww (Me n Twacie) ![]() Snowpose (from left: Jean, Han, Tracy, PeiLin, Me) ![]() The 'Magic Carpet' conveyor belt that got us up the practice slopes ![]() Fun with snow! (somewhere inset is me, June and Jeremy our snowboard instructor, so spot me!) Day 3 (No beanie, both were soaking wet) By far far far the hardest morning EVER to get up!! owh my god. My body was broken. My arms hurt like hell, the rest of my body was just too lazy 2 move! Tracy woke up complaining that the night before i was still touched her bum outta the blue when we were both sleeping, and it hurt like hell. Mebbe i got carried away? HAHAHAH. Sleep(massage)walking. Pei Lin's entire body felt like it was crushed as well. Anyway, of the 8 people in the room, only me and pei lin managed to get up, wash up and head for the mess hall for breakfast. Actually, i got up first n headed there, she joined me afterwards. I had, in total, 4 slices of bread, 5 fucking bowls of cereal, three pancakes and alotta 'etcetera' food n snippets along the way. Stuffed much?. Day 3 was relaxed tho, since we wont be skiing/snowboarding, everybody was just walking around camwhoring or joining snowball fights. As for me, i was packed up and ready to go, wearing my suit so i realy cant be fucked getting hit by snow, however white n pure it is, coz it's still water at the end of the day. Ride home was disasterous, a part of the bus near me was squeeking like hell and it was pissing the hell outta me, so i blasted my MP3 n went to sleep. ![]() Packed up and good to go ![]() More snowpose! actually we were trying keep balance as our normal shoes dont help much on ice (and im cooling my crotch down with coke coz its too hawt lalalala) ![]() Final shot before we left Falls Creek (Han, Jean, Tracy, Peilin and Me) Somehow all the group pics had Tracy in the middle.. :S
